This outreach was a first for COMPASSIONATE HANDS AND HEARTS BREAST CANCER OUTREACH. Before we met our client/friend Kay, her wonderful husband called us and asked us to do something special for his wife, battling breast cancer for the second time and recovering from a stroke. His request was simple, but loving and beautiful. He just wanted us to spend part of the day, surrounding her with love and support. And he wanted it to be a surprise! So, we quietly arrived at their home one Saturday morning and waited in one room, while Kay had no idea we were there. When she walked into the room, there we were, greeting her with smiles and cheers. It was an emotional day for all of us and a great reminder of why we do what we do. Sometimes it's not about the things we can provide for people. Sometimes it's all about showing them what it means to have a compassionate heart. Oh and by the way, we couldn't resist presenting her with one of our signature gift baskets as well.
