She is facing a particularly challenging time. She is going through breast cancer treatment and also as a single parent, caring for four children, including a son with Cerebral Palsy. The weekend before her surgery, we arrived at her home with prepared meals for the family, one of our COMPASSIONATE HANDS AND HEARTS gift baskets (loaded down with goodies), a lovely bracelet designed and made by one of our volunteers and toys for the children. Maria was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after moving to Central Florida. She doesn't have family here, so our volunteers have become her extended family to see her through breast cancer treatment and recovery.
